Instructional Resources
The number of Writing Advisor allotments per subject depends on enrollment. Subjects enrolling between 18 and 25 students receive one allotment; subjects with large enrollments may receive more than one, depending on availability. Writing Advisors generally work an average of 100 hours per subject allotment over the course of the semester, including about 25 hours spent in course preparation (reading course materials, meeting with faculty and/or TAs, attending some class sessions). Within these parameters, please check which of the following resources you would like a Writing Advisor to provide in this subject, and, if possible, note their relative priority.
Proposal
Writing Advisors are assigned to CI-H subjects in order to increase communication instruction and to provide a pedagogical resource to students and faculty. In the space below, please describe the specific goals of communication instruction in this subject, and explain how a writing advisor would help the class to meet those goals. You may explain how a writing advisor has worked with the subject in the past, and/or explain why the addition of a writing advisor would allow the subject to improve communication instruction. The writing advisor’s role is flexible and can be adapted to different pedagogies, so please also explain any unusual circumstances, and provide any additional information that you feel is relevant.
